FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Well – emergency repairs

AFFECTED AREA: HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW ESTATES, KAU, HAWAI‘I ISLAND

This is a Department of Water Supply (DWS) message for Monday, February 13, 2023.

The Hawaiian Ocean View Estates (HOVE) well in Ocean View, Kau is offline. DWS is contracting emergency work to troubleshoot and repair the well as quickly as possible.

Due to this breakdown, the following are in effect:

1. The drinking water spigots remain open for community access. While water spigots remain open for general community access, users are asked to limit their consumption to potable needs only. Your cooperation extends current water availability in the reservoir.

2. The standpipe facility for water haulers is closed until repairs can be completed.

Again, the HOVE well in Ocean View, Kaʻū is down. The drinking water spigot station remains open for community use. The standpipe facility is now closed to water haulers.

Please call (808) 961-8790 for additional information or email: dws@hawaiidws.org. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. This is your Hawaiʻi County Department of Water Supply.
