
AFFECTED AREA: CUSTOMERS ALONG OLD MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY BETWEEN HULA‘ANA PLACE AND KAPEHU CAMP, INCLUDING LANIKAI PLACE, PĀPA‘ALOA SENIOR HOUSING FACILITY, KEKO‘A CAMP, AND ANY ADJACENT SIDE ROADS AND LANES; PĀPA‘ALOA, NORTH HILO, HAWAI‘I
Water will be temporarily turned off in the above-mentioned area from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2025, to install a bypass waterline near the Pāpa‘aloa Country Store and Pāpa‘aloa Hongwanji for the Kaiwilahilahi Bridge project. There will be no water or low water pressure during this time. A Department of Water Supply potable water tanker for the public’s use will be stationed at the Pāpa‘aloa Park.
Upon resumption of water service. the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time you may notice turbid and/or discolored water.
You may also notice trapped air in your plumbing, which will be released as you initially use water.
Affected customers are asked to take any and all precautions necessary to protect their property and facilities including, but not limited to, disabling electrical power to pumps and/or any other devices whose normal operation may be dependent on water pressure and/or water supply, and which might be damaged if automatically energized during the water shutoff.
