AFFECTED AREAS: ĀINAOLA DRIVE MAUKA OF WAIKAHE ROAD, HOAKA ROAD MAUKA OF MĀLA‘AI ROAD, MĀLA‘AI ROAD, ALAWAENA STREET, AND AINAKAHELE STREET, INCLUDING ALL SIDE ROADS AND LANES; WAIĀKEA UKA, SOUTH HILO, HAWAI‘I
Effective immediately and until further notice, the Department of Water Supply (DWS) has issued a Water Restriction Notice for all customers in the affected areas. A Water Restriction Notice requires affected customers to reduce water use by at least 25 percent.
A Water Restriction is necessary to maintain water in its upper storage tank while DWS locates a possible main break and then repairs it.
Performing the following steps will help to reduce water use:
- Wash only full loads of laundry and dishes
- Check faucets and pipes for leaks
- Do not let water run when washing hands, shaving, or brushing teeth
- Reduce showering times
