Water Conservation Notice Issued for Hakalau Customers
AFFECTED AREAS: ALONG HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD BETWEEN THE 14- AND 15.5 MILEMARKERS, MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (HWY 19), CHIN CHUCK ROAD, AND HANAMALO LOOP, ALONG WITH ANY SIDE ROADS AND LANES; HAKALAU, SOUTH HILO, HAWAI‘I
This is an important Department of Water Supply (DWS), County of Hawai‘i, message for Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Effective immediately and until further notice, the Department of Water Supply (DWS) has issued a Water Conservation Notice for customers in the aforementioned areas. A Water Conservation Notice requests affected customers reduce water usage by at least 10%.
Water conservation is needed due to the prolonged lack of rainfall and significant reduction in spring flows.
Performing the following steps will help to conserve water:
- Wash only full loads of laundry and dishes
- Check faucets and pipes for leaks
- Do not let water run when washing hands, shaving, or brushing teeth
- Reduce showering times
